Liverpool centre-backs Rhys Williams and Billy Koumetio are exploring their options, with both expected to leave the club this summer.

Since returning to pre-season training at Kirkby earlier this month, the pair have been training with the club's Under-21 team instead of Arne Slot’s senior squad. Williams, 23, is drawing interest from Turkey and several League One clubs, while Koumetio has attracted attention from Scotland and France. Both players need a move to rejuvenate their careers after challenging periods.

Former England Under-21 international Williams, who made 19 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the 2020-21 season, had disappointing loan spells at Aberdeen and Port Vale last season, with injuries hindering his progress. Koumetio, 21, joined Liverpool’s academy from French club Orleans FC in 2018 and has made two senior appearances. He struggled for playing time during loan periods at French second-tier side USL Dunkerque and Championship club Blackburn Rovers last season.

With captain Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Ibrahima Konate still absent due to their involvement in the Euros, Slot currently relies on Jarell Quansah, Sepp van den Berg, and Nat Phillips as his centre-back options.
